Falling Into the Season

It’s official…it’s Fall in South Florida! While the weather may not have changed much in the last few days, the “season” sure has.

It’s no secret…I’m a native Floridian so I’m used to the changes of South Florida. The weather is somewhat the same, but other aspects of Florida are not. We get our seasonal neighbors back from up north, very advance reservations are needed at restaurants and hotels, the beaches are still hot for everyone in autumn and there are so many events and happenings going on you never have a dull weekend!

This is truly one of my favorite times of the year. It’s almost time to open the windows while it rains to listen to nature’s music and you always meet someone new at one of your favorite places/events.

Is it a busy time of year? Absolutely. It’s what I call a Mugsy kind of season! There’s so much fun going on there’s no way you can’t smile.

Be sure to take a look at the Mugsy PR list of clients on our website to find out what everyone has going on. There’s something for every family, every couple and everyone!

The Fab Five: Mugsy on the Move and Uber Out

Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone! It’s been a great week with a lot of interesting things going on. Check out my fab five picks of the week.

1. Mugsy PR’s emily on HITS 97.3: Our very own Emily Taffel will be on 97.3 Sunday morning talking about the recent venue partnership of the Association of Women in Communications South Florida (AWCSFL) with the Wyndham Boca Raton. Emily is the communications executive on the board of the AWCSFL. Be sure to tune in!

2. Facts You May Not Know About Back to the FutureI absolutely LOVE this! Can you believe some of these? I always wondered why they had to hit 88 m.p.h. in order to travel back in time. Now I know! If you want a break from your day, this is definitely something to check out.

3. South Park RenewedIt’s something many of us have been hoping for and it’s finally here! South Park has been renewed for 30 new episodes in a three-season deal on Comedy Central. What is your favorite episode of South Park?

4. Uber Out of Broward CountyIt’s official…Uber is out of Broward County. At the end of this month, Uber will no longer service the county. Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties, however, will still have an Uber presence AND you’ll be able to take an Uber from either of those two counties to Broward County. Weird…but true!

5. The PR Side of Celebrity DivorceIt was recently announced that after 10 years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner will be divorcing. While this news has been all over the place in the last week, I found this story very interesting as it’s from a publicist’s viewpoint. It seems as though they are also collaborating well when it comes to their living and parenting as a divorced couple. You can find more information about collaborative divorce and mediation by visiting the Law Offices of Iris M. Bass.

Spotlight On…

I am a proud partner today!  I was so excited to open up one of my favorite local blogs, The Tropical Sun, and see such an incredible piece on Mugsy and my ‘Partner in PR’, Sarah Caro for their #SmallBiz Spotlight.

Below is just a snippet, but you can read the entire piece here.

Owners of Mugsy PR

The Tropical Sun recently sat down with Sarah Caro, Co-owner and Vice President of Mugsy PR (and a Boca Raton resident) to learn a little more about social media marketing, brand reputation management, and of course, public relations.

We asked Sarah to share five fun and fabulous aspects of her business with us. Our sit down showed us that the Mugsy PR team certainly lives up to their motto: “a little bit quirky, a little bit analytical and a lot of awesome, all rolled into one.”

Join us as we get to know more about Sarah and the impressive team at Mugsy PR.

Turn Your Social Media Friends Into Brand Besties

Yesterday, Emily and I had the pleasure of speaking at Social Media Day South Florida (#SMDaySFL) in Fort Lauderdale. The best part of the conference were all the amazing people who supported us in attending our presentation.

We want to thank all of you for your support…and your great questions at the end! To show our thanks, we have uploaded our presentation to SlideShare for anyone who would like it.

If you were unable to attend the event, feel free to check out what we spoke about yesterday at the 5th anniversary of Social Media Day South Florida!

Florida Social Con is coming on July 18, 2015, and today I had a chance to join the founder of Social Con, Karla Campos, for a unique interview for South Florida Sun-Sentinel‘s “Rod with a Twist” vlog.

Sarah and I are so excited to present our Social Media Obstacle Course Scavenger Hunt at the Con this year and thrilled to have a chance to talk about it.

Despite my hatred of getting up early, today was a delight. Rod Hagwood and his entire crew are amazing and genuinely smile inducing. Of course, how could you be in a bad mood when your morning interview is being held at a bar?! Particularly the Premiere Beverage Mixology and Training Center.

There were smiles all around, especially after Nick, our Bartender and Mixologist extraordinaire, made his incredible “Flaming Piña Colada” cocktails.

Nick’s bartending skills were awesome (or as some at Sun-Sentinel would say…”On Fleek”)

Not a bad way to start the day! A big thanks to Rod, the Sun-Sentinel crew, Nick and everyone with Florida Social Con. We will share a link to the interview when it airs.

Hope to see you at Social Con in July!

The Fab Five: From Holidays to the Heat

Even though it’s a short week, it certainly is a busy one! Some of us over here at Mugsy PR (mainly me) still think it’s Tuesday instead of Wednesday since we all had Monday off. Here are some of my fab five of this short week:

1. Memorial Day Holiday CelebrationsWhile many people think Memorial Day is a time for grilling and hitting the beach, there were other commemorative events taking place throughout the United States to celebrate the brave who gave their lives while fighting in the armed forces. While I was on my way to Wellington to trade vehicles with my dad, I passed the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. Cars were parked all along 441 with families going to pay their respects. It was a great sight to see on a three-day weekend to remember why we have the day off.

2. iPhones Crashing from a Text?Bad news for iPhone users. Be careful of incoming text messages. What started as a rumor that was first spotted by reddit, Apple has now confirmed that it is a glitch. If you own an iPhone, be sure to read this story and even watch the video and be on alert of incoming text messages!

3. Cooking and Baking to Decompress: It’s been a busy and hectic the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately the SCaro’s received some bad news about our dog and he was in the animal hospital for a few days. While my husband hits the driving range or golf course by himself to keep his mind of things, I go to the kitchen. I baked cookies for his co-workers, made breakfast sandwiches in the morning for breakfast and tried new recipes each night for dinner. I actually found one of my favorites in this article – the quinoa sushi roll. And I must say…it was delish! Take a look at these other recipes if you find cooking to be your pastime or funtime!

4. Social Media Day South Florida 2015: It’s back!!! Social Media Day South Florida…and this year it’s in Fort Lauderdale at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. Mugsy PR has got for the past two years (speaking last year) and can’t wait to go again this year! There are still early bird tickets for sale for $18, but they’re going fast. Be sure to get your tickets soon! Social Media Day South Florida is Sunday, June 28th this year!

5. Summer, Summer, Summertime: It’s hotter than ever in South Florida and that can only mean one thing….SUMMERTIME! The heat is rough, but the pools and beaches are not. All the summer camps are filled since kids get out of school next week. To celebrate…take a look at some of our favorite summertime songs to get in the mood! Which one is your favorite?
